KS1 (Key Stage One)

Following completion of EYFS outcomes, students may begin achieving KS1 outcomes during two years of study within Year One and Year Two.
KS1 curriculum subjects include the key areas:

  • Literacy
    (English language)
  • Mathematics
  • Science

A significant importance is placed on the first three subjects at BIK and so Literacy and Numeracy are taught daily. Like the ‘Prime Areas’ of the EYFS curriculum, it is a strongly held value of British education that proficiency in language, mathematics and science give children a significantly improved understanding in other areas of study. At BIK they include:

  • Design and Technology
  • History, Geography and ‘Personal, Social and Health Education’
  • Art and Design
  • Music
  • Physical
    Education (PE), including dance
  • Information and Communication Technologies (ICT)

In addition English Language instruction, we teach a Modern Foreign Language. Acquisition of an additional language, even for bi-lingual children, is of tremendous benefit. Due to our location we have chosen, at this time, to teach;

Modern Foreign Language – Chinese (Mandarin)
