- Joo Eun Kim (Seoul, Korea) Crocodile Class Teacher
BA Human Development and Family Studies; Early childhood education (University of Illinois); Completed Master’s program in Early Childhood Education (Seoul National University)
It is my pleasure to be teaching pre-nursery class at BIK Hannam. I have worked with very young group of children in the U.S and Korea since 2010. As a college student in early childhood education, I was trained to practice developmentally appropriate curriculum for EYFS. Since I value cultural diversity and interactive communities that foster healthy relationships between families and their schools, I feel very lucky to be a part of this tremendous team of teachers and students at BIK Hannam. I strongly believe that early years, especially children’s first two critical years can influence their lives in so many different ways. Therefore, I hope to make their first school experience as positive as possible by providing interesting, and safe environment with warm caring and support. I spend most of my spare time reading, running and cooking.

It is an honour to work at BIK alongside with such enthusiastic students and the dedicated team of professional teachers from all around the world. Working with young children always has been my passion, and when I came back from Australia, I wanted to pursue a teaching career that incorporated my English skills. For the past few years, I have worked for many English preschool programs in Seoul, gaining extensive experience in the field. To develop my knowledge in education even further, I am currently attending Sookmyung Women’s University for its graduate TESOL/English Education program. When I am not in class teaching, I like to do creative things such as drawing or painting. I also enjoy traveling and walking in nature. I am pleased to work with such a talented group of children, and I promise to provide all my students a rich learning environment that is open, respectful, engaging, and caring. I look forward to exciting years of learning and growing ahead of us!

I am so excited to be teaching the Nursery 1 class at BIK. I have had the pleasure of teaching in Korea for 4.5 years. I have taught at various kindergartens around Seoul and I have loved working with students and staff who are dedicated to education. Before coming to Korea, I had the pleasure of teaching in other classrooms in Canada and Azerbaijan. All these experiences have given me a love for teaching. I believe that students should be free to learn, explore, and just be themselves in a loving, engaging environment. In the classroom, I strive to make each day full of experiences and opportunities that students can use a launching pad for their imagination and to foster a desire for further learning. Some of our best childhood memories should be made at school.
